We're putting together a Wellville team for Madison's Thanksgiving tradition. Run or walk the 5K or 10K in Fitchburg, or join virtually from wherever you'll be that morning.

Two ways to race

In person

Fitchburg on Thanksgiving morning

Fitchburg Business Park, 5200 E Cheryl Pkwy. A scenic course along the Capital City Trail, with warming tents and coffee before the start.

10K run 5K run 5K walk (untimed) Kids' Dash, ages 2–6

Includes a long-sleeve shirt, knit hat, Kwik Trip Glazers, and free race photos. The Kids' Dash is free with a paid adult registration.

Virtual

Run it wherever you are

Traveling for the holiday or hosting dinner? Sign up for the virtual Birdie Derby and log your miles on your own route. You still count toward the Wellville team.

Need to switch from in-person to virtual? Make changes before Monday, Nov 23.

Racing as a team

Running on a team costs the same as running alone. Sign up through our team link and our team name gets printed on the back of your race shirt.

Team name: Strut Your Stuff. Team code: Turkey. Search for the team name and enter the code to join.
We need at least 5 members by Nov 1 to count as a team.
Mix any events. 10K runners, 5K walkers and virtual members can all be on the same team.
Virtual members are welcome. Times aren't collected for virtual runners, and shirts may not arrive by Thanksgiving.

Teams with 5+ members signed up by 11:59pm are eligible for the team-name contest.

The Birdie Derby is produced by Active Youth Wisconsin, and 100% of proceeds stay right here in our community, helping create more opportunities for kids to move, play, and discover the joy of being active.

We love Active Youth Wisconsin. Their work aligns with Wellville's mission and our goal of improving the health of young people in southern Wisconsin, which is a big part of why we're showing up as a team.
